Life at Sea
RESCUE FROM POSEIDON'S GATE™ is a recreation of a mini-sub rescue performed by the renowned USS-RV Poseidon in deep waters. You were the deep diving expert and troubleshooter aboard the ship, an expert in free-diving, SCUBA diving, and hard hat diving with surface-supplied air.
The mini-sub on board the Poseidon was named Amphitrite (after the wife of the god of the sea). The Amphitrite has been known to get into trouble, which is why the ship always had a diving expert on board trained in underwater rescue.
In your experience the Amphitrite never needed help in calm, friendly waters. But as this recreation shows, when there is trouble it can be life-threatening
Not all underwater rescues are the same!More often than not you can expect to encounter multiple species of Fish, mostly friendly but always in the way; aggressive Electric Eels, attacking Jellyfish of different strengths; and Crabs who tangle your air lines. Not to mention Frenzied Sharks guarding the entrance to Poseidon's Gate.
Gold crabs can inject a little extra air into your suit, and many of them have collected treasures dropped over the side by tourists. Other creatures provide a lift of buoyancy or other benefit as you complete the rescue.
You also have with you on the vessel a prototype suit for use at extreme depths. Should you need to work at a greater depth than the ship's air line can support, they can deploy air tank stations along your dive. Each of these tanks is set to float at a fixed depth where its buoyancy reaches an equilibrium. Your suit has built-in tanks that can hold about 3 1/2 minutes of air, and is equipped with a fitting to attach to these floating air tanks. This is a prototype system and should be used for emergencies only.
